Lora and I went to the Home Show this weekend.
We didn't really care about seeing the featured home,
we wanted to see Nicole Curtis-- AKA The Rehab Addict.
(Sorry this isn't the best picture).
She was exactly like she is on her show---
Little, spunky, funny and REAL!
I love her!
Here are a few things she said that I wanted to note....
-Bad neighbors make bad neighborhoods.
Be a good neighbor. Talk to your neighbors, help them out, look out for one another, and if you do, you will see that your neighborhood stays nice for decades. I think the neighborhood we live in is a great example...... Homes in our neighborhood were built starting in the 1920's and 1930's have remained well maintained because neighbors are neighborly. We have block parties, holiday events, and we care about one another. We have pride in our neighborhood, it's the kind of neighborhood people want to live in, so be a good neighbor!
-Every kitchen must have a dishwasher.
Nicole said that even though she believes in restoring homes, keeping existing character of a home etc., she thinks that in every kitchen must have a dishwasher. She said that you are never going to sell your home if you don't have a dishwasher, so every kitchen remodel she does MUST have a dishwasher. I completely agree!
-People who love older homes typically like all things old.
She said that she has found that the people who love older homes love old people, old furniture, old cars and motorcycles. Lora and I chuckled at this... sounds like our family.
-She doesn't believe in replacing old windows.
Nicole said that if you take apart old windows and rebuild them, they can be just as good as new windows... interesting.
No doubt her thoughts on neighborhoods are true. It's not always easy to be a good neighbor with everyone working but it makes for a great community.
ReplyDeleteMy mom said to tell you that she is jealous of your trip to the home show and that you got to see Nicole! She loves her show!
